Preparation

1/4 Yard of Inside Fabric
1/4 Yard of Outside Fabric
1/4 Yard of Pellon Thermolam
® Stabilizer
1/4 Yard of Pellon Craft Fuse
®
Stabilizer
1/4 Yard Solvy
® light weight stabilizer
1/2 Yard of wash away stabilizer 
Embroidery thread for:
     Leaves
     Roses
     Outline
     Satin cover stitching that goes around the case edge
7" Strip of 3/4" wide Velcro
® hook and loop
Masking Tape
Sulky
® KK2000 Embroidery Adhesive Spray (Optional)

Wind a bobbin full of the same embroidery thread you plan to use for the satin cover stitching going around the case edge. Place bobbin in your embroidery machine.
1st Hooping - Cell Phone Front

Load Cell Phone Front or Cell Phone Front No Rose design into your machine.
Hoop wash-away stabilizer
into your hoop.

1. Embroider placement line for right upper Velcro® piece. 
Place soft loop Velcro® strip with soft side down so top is aligned with placement line. 

Tape in place. 

2. Embroider tack down line.

Remove tape and trim excess.

Repeat for bottom piece:

3. Embroider placement line.

Place Velcro® strip soft side facing down and align strip to match line. 

Tape in place.

4. Embroider tack down line.

Remove tape and trim excess.

5. Embroider Pellon Thermolam® placement line.
Place 5"x4-1/2" piece to cover line. 

Tape edges in place or use Sulky® K2000 adhesive spray on back to hold in place.

6. Embroider Thermolam® tack down line.
Remove hoop from machine and trim close to stitching.

Replace hoop on the machine.

7. Embroider placement lines for fabric and straps.
Place outside fabric, right side up, on top side of hoop to cover placement line.
8. Embroider outside fabric tack down line.
9. Embroider Velcro® piece placement line.
Place Velcro® loop, rough side up, aligning with placement line. Tape in place.
10. Embroider tack down line. 
Trim bottom edge next to stitching.
Embroider rose design:
11. Embroider leaves - Use green thread of your choice
12. Embroider roses - Use thread color to compliment fabrics used
13. Embroider outline - Use a dark shade to compliment roses. Shown is dark gray.

OMIT STEPS 11 TO 12 IF USING DESIGN WITHOUT ROSES.

Prepare straps:

Cut a piece of outside fabric 14"x4-1/4",
Cut a strip of Pellon Craft Fuse®  14"x2".

Lay Craft Fuse®  strip so long edge aligns with fabric's long edge. Be sure shiny side is DOWN.
Lightly press Craft Fuse®  strip in place. 
Fold fabric in half over Craft Fuse®  and press well.
Lay prepared strap over long placement line on top right.

14. Embroider large strap tack down line.

Remove hoop and trim close to stitching. 

Replace hoop on machine.

Use remaining length of prepared strap and lay it over the short strap.

15. Embroider short strap tack down line.

Remove hoop and trim close to stitching. 

Turn hoop to the back side. 

Trim all threads. 

Lay a piece of outside fabric to cover the front piece. 

Tape in place.

Return the hoop to the machine.

16. Embroider back tack down line.

Remove hoop from machine.

Trim the back fabric close to stitching line.

Replace hoop on machine.

Place a piece of Solvy® over the Velcro piece.
17. Embroider satin cover stitching.

Remove hoop from machine and stabilizer from hoop.

Trim from finished edges to about 1/4" being careful not to snip satin cover stitching.

Leave about an inch around front piece where possible.

 

Use a wet cloth to dab away wash away stabilizer residue on the upper finished edge of the front piece. 

Completely hand wash stabilizer from straps ONLY by holding them under running water until the stabilizer is dissolved.

Set aside to dry.

2nd Hooping - Cell Phone Back

In this hooping, you will make the back of the case and construct it.
Load the Cell Phone Back design into your machine.
Hoop wash away stabilizer into your embroidery hoop.
Use a size 14 embroidery needle.

1. Embroider the Velcro® strip placement line.
Place hook Velcro® strip rough side facing down, aligning with placement line.

2. Embroider the Velcro® strip tack down line.

3. Embroider the outside fabric placement line.

Place outside fabric, right side down, to cover placement line. 

Secure with tape, if desired.

4. Embroider the outside fabric tack down line.

5. Embroider the Thermolam® placement line.
Place the Thermolam® to cover the placement line.

6. Embroider the tack down line.

Trim close to stitching.

7. Embroider the Velcro® zigzag stitching line.
8. Embroider the straps placement line. 

Leave the beginning thread tail to help with placement of straps.

Place the straps with right sides together and matching the stitching across the bottom.
Tape the straps together above the stitching line.
Position straps over the placement line. 

Thread tail will help you locate beginning point when using matching thread.

Tape the straps in place above and below the stitching line.

9. Embroider the strap tack down line.

Trim the straps 1/8" below stitching line.
Lay inside fabric, right side up, to cover back piece. 

Use Sulky®  KK2000 on back of fabric to hold in place.

10. Embroider the inside fabric tack down line.

Trim close to stitching.

11. Embroider satin cover stitching on top edge of back piece 
Take completed front piece and match the top cover stitching. 

Tape in place across cover stitching.

Match bottom corners.
Tape stabilizer in place across bottom edge.
12. Secure front piece by embroidering with zigzag tack down line.
13. Embroider satin cover stitching to finish case.
Remove hoop from machine and stabilizer from hoop.

Trim as much stabilizer from case as possible being careful not to clip any satin cover stitching.

Hand wash by holding under running water until stabilizer is completely dissolved. 

Gently squeeze excess water from case and hang using back loop to dry.

Case on left is fussy cut and done without roses. 

Side and back views. Strap can be adjusted shorter or longer to fit any opening. Perfect for belts, belt loops, over purse straps, backpacks; on anything with an opening the strap can loop through.
