| Stand Alone Ornament or Coaster |
 |
Front
1 Hoop a cut away, medium weight stabilizer and fabric into your embroidery hoop. For my fabric, I used duck cloth.
2 Embroider any small design included in the Flakey Friends set with the
circular cutting line around it.
You may also load the blank circle design into your software, place any small design
(3"x3" or less) of your choice into the center of the circle, then
embroider.
3 Once the design is embroidered, cut out the circle, including the fabric and stabilizer, following the circular Cutting Line.

Back
1 Shown here, I'm using a plain piece of fabric for the back, with no embroidery on it. Use the front circle as a pattern, cut out the back piece to match the front as well as an additional layer of stabilizer if
needed or desired. Duck Cloth does not need additional stabilizer
Note: You can also embroider the Blank Circle (a separate design
included) to use as a pattern and, if you want the back side of your ornament or coaster embroidered, load the Blank Circle into your software and place the text or
a design into the middle of the circle. Then, hoop the fabric and stabilizer into your hoop, embroider, and cut
it out to use as the back just as you did the front.

Assemble the circles |

|

|
|
Spray the wrong side of the front and back pieces with
embroidery adhesive and add the loop. |
Shown here is the how to form the loop. |
|

Place the wrong sides of the front and back circles
together with the loop at the top. Set aside. |
1 Spray the back sides of the front and back circles with an embroidery placement spray such as Sulky 505.
2 To add a loop at the top of the ornament, use a 1 1/2" piece of ribbon. Fold in half and place at the top of either the front or back circle. Overlap the ends so that both ends of the ribbon are held in place by the adhesive spray.
(Skip this step if you are making a coaster.)
3 If you are adding stabilizer, place the stabilizer circle piece on the wrong side of either the top or bottom circle, matching the edges.
4 Place the wrong sides of the front and back circles together, matching the edges.
NOTE: If there is a design on both the front and back, make sure you position the top of the back and top of the front so the designs on both sides are at the top. In other words, you
don't want to end up with the design on the back of the ornament to be upside down when finished. |
|

|
Load the Basic Cover Stitch design included in this set into your embroidery machine.
5 Hoop water-soluble stabilizer in your hoop. If you are going to cover edges with other trim with the design is finished sewing, you can also use tear away stabilizer. Wash away can be washed away when the design is finished. I used tear-away for my ornament since I planned to apply trim to the finished edges.
6 Sew the Placement Line

7 Lightly spray the back of
the assembled circles with the Sulky 505 or embroidery adhesive spray of
your choice. Place the assembled circles onto the hooped stabilizer with
the sprayed side down, matching the edges exactly . The spray adhesive
will hold the assembled circles in place while the design sews out. |
|
Lightly spray the back of your ornament with embroidery adhesive spray and position it exactly over the Placement Line |
 |
8 Sew the Decorative Tack Down Line. Use a thread color to set off the design colors.

9 Sew the Satin Cover Stitch. Use a thread color of your choice.
10 Remove the hoop from your machine and unhoop the stabilizer. Tear away the outside edge of the stabilizer and from the inside of the back. Take the finished ornament to the sink and run water over the back side, gently rubbing away the water-soluble residue. Blot and lay flat to dry.

 |
11 If desired, when the ornament is dry, add trim to the outside edge. I
use Fabri-Tac to secure the trims for my ornaments.
These are fabulous with sparkles added! |
| Shown here is Panzie as a
coaster. This is made the same way, but without the loop and with trim
added around the outside edge.. |
