POCKET PIZAZZ FLEUR HOW TO Swirl satin cover stitch Topstitching color for attaching the pocket to your item or fabric. Fabric: Pocket fabric: 1 each 11” high x 8 1/2” wide fabric for the pocket. If you are using a fabric with a definite pattern, the 8 1/2” side of the fabric will be the top of your piece so keep that in mind when cutting. Fleur fabric: 2 each 7”x 4½” pieces Fleur stabilizer: 1 each 7” x 4½” piece of light weight stabilizer |

PREPARE POCKET To make sure your pocket will be the right size make sure you have the Template made up. Template instructions can be found in General instructions. Follow the Pocket Preparation instructions in the General instructions to prepare the pocket fabric for embroidery. MAKE THE POCKET Load the 7 Fleur Large or 7 Fleur design into your machine. Hoop a 6”x9” hoop with Badgemaster or similar clear wash-away stabilizer. Thread the machine with the thread color you plan to use for the Fleur satin cover stitching stitching. Use a thread color to compliment and/or contrast with the leaves fabric. |

1. Embroider the pocket placement line. |

Place the prepared pocket piece with the fold at the top and the pressed under edges at the bottom. The side and bottom edges should be matching the placement line exactly. |

Tape the bottom and lower sides in place with masking tape or spray the back of the pocket with embroidery spray adhesive before placing, or do both. |

2. Using the same color thread, embroider the pocket trim line. |

Remove the hoop. Trim away fabric above the trim line using sharp, curved scissors to get as close to the stitching as possible, but being careful not to cut into the wash-away stabilizer in the hoop. Return the hoop to the machine. |

3. Using the same color thread, embroider the Fleur fabric placement line.

Spray the back of the prepared Fleur fabric with spray adhesive and place it so the placement line is completely covered. | ||

4. Using the same color thread, embroider Fleur fabric trim line. | ||

Remove the hoop from
the machine. Trim away fabric around the trim line using sharp, curved scissors to get as close to the stitching as possible, but being careful not to cut the wash-away stabilizer in the hoop or pocket fabric. Return the hoop to the machine. |

8. Embroider the Fleur satin cover stitching.
Pocket embroidery is finished. |

Remove the tape from the pocket. Lift the pocket out of the hoop, tearing away the clear stabilizer. If desired, wash away stabilizer under running water. The stabilizer will wash away the first time the pocket is laundered. If you wash away the stabilizer, lay flat to dry or use a blow dryer to hasten drying and press pocket before attaching to your project. |
